Elements of a Common Houseplant Stem

This little green plant was slowly drying out on top of a small bookcase in the living room. I cut a cross section of the stem. The microscope shows the intricacy of this natural wonder that we would normally dismiss. I saw two distinct cell groups and an array of needle like things that are common in the anatomy of plant stems.
