Urea desolved in water.
I stept away from adding alcohol to break the surface of the water, instead I wash my slides in dishwashing soap and leave them to dry without first washing them off with clear water.

Image 500(7) is pretty cool. I have no idea what kind of scale we're looking at, though.

Where did you find urea?

Thanks.
First about the urea;this is one of the products I started using recently in microscope photography together with epsom salt and vitamine C.All three you can get at the pharmacy or even drugstore. Then there are some other products like ß-alanine,L-glutamine and Glycine I ordered online since they are too expensive to buy in small quantities.
All of these products can be found in regular medicin products but for the best result it is better to look for the pure form.
About the first part of your question;the (original ;) )magnification lies between 20x and 50x
