Banner Day for Rotifers

#1 Post by DonSchaeffer » Thu Mar 30, 2023 5:03 pm

Maybe it's just that I scraped the glass of the mudpuddle jar or maybe it's the timing, but this was a banner day for rotifers. There were a few species. Then there was a sizable bunch of very slow-moving or unmoving familiar but anonymous microbes.

Nice collection of beasties. You're getting some very good contrast these days.

Thanks MM. Actually the range of species has not changed much. There is some variation with different parts of the water jar. But the range of organisms is very narrow. I will be getting a new population once the weather warms up--it's still below freezing here.

Yeah once the jar teaches the rotifer and/or paramecium stage, there isn't much of a chance going back to diversity.

It's still too cold here to change water. Maybe in a week or two.
