This isn't one of the ticks I am familiar with, but I think it's in Ixodes. Anyone know if I'm right?

It is Ixodes ricinus.

Beautiful in an abstract way. Emotionally, though! After harvesting fiddleheads on May 4 I had 19 Ixodes Scapularis on my shrinking carcass. Had over 500 over the past 15 years or so. I am an excellent genetic repository for bacterial genes. If Shi Zhengli doesn't get her virology lab back ( hopefully not) and turns to bacterial genetics lnstead, I'm going to get kidnapped.

:D , 500 ticks, crazy! I haven't come in contact with any of them yet,
except on the slide under the cover-glass.
