The large amoeba Chaos

In a recent collection from a local pond, I have found a number of the large lobose amoeba Chaos. In fact, on one slide there were 3 of them. I have 2 videos of these beasts, one in phase contrast and one in DIC. The protoplasmic streaming in these amoebae is very interesting to see and they are very active organisms. There are several food vacuoles present as well. The phase contrast one was done using a Zeiss F-achromat Ph1 objective. To help give an indication of the size of this amoeba, the width of the video frame is about 720 um. The DIC one was done using a plan achromat and both videos were taken using a Canon 1300D camera on a Zeiss Photomicroscope III.
