Cell Walls in Tomato Juice

#1 Post by DonSchaeffer » Fri Feb 02, 2024 4:13 pm

Tomato juice is not a liquid. It is a gelatin, a solid with very thin and elastic cell walls. It is very hard to see the cells. Illumination must be very carefully arranged. You have to look carefully for the lines in just the right illumination. It's particularly tricky when the light comes directly from below the subject. It;s also hard to see beyond all the substance floating in the juice, especially if the juice has been sitting out for a while. The cells are comparatively large so the view is often in the middle of the cell and you miss the joint points.
