Re: litonotidae
Neat find and video. Found one of these in October. Never saw one before or since.
Re: litonotidae
Cool subject, and seeing it in phase is a treat for me as I don't have the capability.
Thanks for posting it.

Re: litonotidae
Very nice video. And as usual, your phase image is excellent. I too used to see those (along with Spirostomum, etc.) regularly in the past, but have not seen one in a long time.

Thanks gekko
I suppose I should have tried for genus but did not know where to start. Can you narrow it down?
Family Litonotidae Kent, 1882
1 Genus Acineria Dujardin, 1841
2 Genus Heminotus Kahl, 1933
3 Genus Litonotusᵀ Wrzesniowski, 1870
4 Genus Loxophyllum Dujardin, 1841
5 Genus Siroloxophyllum Foissner & Leipe, 1995

Re: litonotidae
Hi 75RR
I would suggest Acineria incurvata, it is similar to the figure I can find.
Nice movie

These always make me wonder about the origins of the patterns in certain shapes in antique eastern fabrics and carpets, from which the design paisley was derived. Certain leaves display similar shapes. The shape must have certain aerodynamic qualities and in fact hydrodynamic too, I suppose. I know some of the people wearing paisley shirts in the past certainly thought they had.

Thanks Rylander, it does look similar.

Could I assume you used a normal slide/slip config? My far fetched concern
is smashing a coverslip and ruining an objective while trying to focus on a
specimen at the bottom of a well-slide.
