A spider possibly Pholcus phalangioides
A spider possibly Pholcus phalangioides
Hi all,
My diy epi lighting rig (see my post of peacock feathers and diy epi lighting rig) at with x4 plan objective which I discuss in another post has been put to good work a spider.
I've actually had a slight upgrade to my rig and will post this in the other post.
Now I'm no expert but I do have the collings field guide to spiders and based on this alone and not much other knowledge of spiders I think this is Phlocus phalngiodes.
Wasn't sure if I should post here or in the id section but these are some new pictures so I went for here.
and the epigene that might help with id (but look guys I only just learnt the word epigene and may have it wrong)
and her (yes I think she as no sign of complex leg sex organ) spinerettes.
Her body is about 8mm.
Many thanks to any arachnologists.

Here is a good place to post the images because we can appreciate them.
Only thing I know about spiders is I don't like them.

The first image is very dramatic! Looking up as I play dead, this arachnid is the size of Star Ship Enterprise.
We do have an arachnologist (thankfully) in forum...he might be watching the Oscars on telly.
I do hope einmen finds this thread you share, and I do love spiders. Is this one alive at image capture? charlie guevara
