More from the Mecan River.

This one I believe to be a Pinnularia, but have never seen it presented looking like this, so please feel free to correct the ID.

And finally this Frustulia which I thought was striking in grayscale and in color, so here are both views

All are very good. The Cymbella is probably as good as it can get.

As superb as the rest of your diatom images; beautiful details and sharpness I especially enjoy what I would describe as the "luminosity"

Merci Seb.

Gekko, thank you for all of your comments today, you are very kind. Luminosity is a good word I think, and I agree they appeal to me in the same way.

Thanks again.

Yes. Superb. Just goes to show the quality you can get even with an older AO10. Love the fact you are utilizing an Ortho Illuminator.

Thanks Einman. As you say, a 10 with an OI makes a very capable rig, and with a little Ebay bargain hunting you can pick up a 10 for less than $100 and an OI for about the same. Show me how you can make $200 go further, that's only about $2 a pound..... ;^)

Nice pics (all of them) - first one is a real peach.
Also nice to see such top notch images made with modest kit.

Rod,
genial, speziell Bild 1 ähnelt beinahe einer Aufnahme unter dem Elektronenmikroskop.
