Euglenid
Euglenid
Euglenid (possibly Phacus torta) showing a big central paramylon (starch like) grain.
Re: Euglenid
Thanks for this lovely green Phacus species,Johann! Due the short and curved posterior extended spine ( P.torta has a long and rather straight posterior spine)..due the prominent single paramylum body, due the strong body ridge extending from anterior to posterior...my sense is you share Phacus pleuronectes with us. But then too, there are a lot of Phacus species about, so to rule out one species vrs another is only to contribute to your kind sharing, Johann.

Re: Euglenid
This is a nice image. I won't pretend to know which of the many Phacus it is, but it seems to me it does have a long and slightly curved spine, only below the plane of focus. More curious is the little green projection at the base, which looks like a small hitch-hiker, maybe something like a small Characiopsis. Some quick searching brought up very little about epiphytes on euglenids, so I imagine it is probably an uncommon thing to find!
Re: Euglenid
Excellent image of a hard to photograph phacus. I find they do not sit still for long.
