A testate amoeba!

#1 Post by Pat Thielen » Thu May 18, 2017 1:19 am

These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorites! Journeying through the pond scum I collected from a nearby lake I found that there are quite a few testate amoebas in the sample. I've found at least three different species; thanks for help from people in these forums for help in identifying a couple of them. This particular one I videoed at 400x, so it is rather close up and I apologize for the lack of depth of field -- It's kinda difficult to stack a video! :D

Anyway, let me know what you think. At some point I'll have to start adding a soundtrack to these videos.

Good catch. Always nice to find one at home.

Thanks -- I'm quite happy you like them. I know I have a ways to go as I'm still a rank beginner at Adobe Premier. Eventually I hope to make better and more professional looking videos. Some of the ones I've seen posted here have been simply amazing. So, I do have a ways to go. But it a lot of fun learning and I think I (finally) figured out how to compress them to a reasonable size for uploading to Youtube.

Nice video. I wonder what the little critter on the left might be.
