Unfortunate Ostracod ran into my cover slip - a fate shared by several of his compatriots from time to time. :(
Note to self - use well slide if large ostracods are present!

Done that myself a few times.
"Note to self - use well slide if large ostracods are present!"
Problem then is how to slow them down.

Re: Unfortunate Ostracod
Agree. Thought I would use my well slides and my hydrophobic slides more, but the greater depth which allows larger animalcules to remain 'cover slip free' creates its own challenges.Problem then is how to slow them down.

Re: Unfortunate Ostracod
Your image reminds me a bit of a forensic anthropolgists exhibit of a decades old murder site. Though the 'seed shrimp'/Ostracods can get quite large...a bit of algae strands or other 'structure' from their water sample often permit coverslips over these bumbeling gentle cows.
