Hi all, having bought the splendid rocking microtome it's time to make an incubator to keep my wax with specimens liquid during infiltration.... Also I will need a water-bath into which the wax sections may be placed and allowed to stretch prior to fixing to slides for further processing!
I can't afford to buy them but a handy £10 (digital) thermostatic switch bought online can be used to make them both. It can directly switch on/off up to 10A (more than enough by far) at 240V. It's really simple to wire-up and I'm going to use it for a heated cabinet (incubator) and a hotplate with a metal tray of water on top as a water-bath. It's programmable and can measure from -50 deg C to 120 deg C with an accuracy of +- 0.1 deg! It has a water-proof sensor on a wire about 3ft long.
I put together yet another v1.0 and here it is - you can see the idea...
Here's the sensor..
Here's the superbly good-value and capable thermo-switch..
