Carpenter bee

#1 Post by geo_man » Fri May 08, 2020 2:14 pm

Found this big guy dead outside my basement door. Quite the animal! I believer its a male carpenter bee. They don't have stingers. Stacked images with my SZ7. Cheers!

Very cool picture(s)

1. Just starting to tip my toes into microscopy, regarding the image stacking, is the camera controlled by a computer or other device to fire as many pictures as quickly as possible?

2. How did you contain the bee?

3. How did you get him to smile?

Hi krame, thanks and welcome.

1) no, just take a pic, shift focus a bit and take another until top to base of subject is in focus. I use helicon focus for stacking.

2) he was deceased; I only work with insects I have found dead by natural causes.

3) say cheese!
