The microscopic investigation begains

#1 Post by MicroInspector » Thu May 05, 2016 5:41 pm

]S.R.P canal water
How I got the water sample
Please note that I have to get the slides next month
There is only 1 way to obtain a water sample from the canal,
When you see this sign at the canal site saying no swinging etc
I got a small bottle with a attached weight on the bottom and
Tied a string to it . I lowered the bottle into canal until it sunk to the bottom
Than pulled up the bottle and got my first water sample.
I labeled the sample with a blue sharpie
S.R.P canal sample A.
I look at this sample when. I get my slides..URL=http://s18.photobucket.com/user/Airplan ... j.jpg.html][IMG]http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b106/ ... qmo1hj.jpg[/

Not sure I'm looking forward to his report. I use to swim & catch crawdads in those canals. Some things you just don't want to know.

In Norway, we have reports of dead microscopic crustaceans in our drinking water. No harm, but not something you really want to think hard about. When you start down this road, it's like the Matrix movie. Do you want to know what's really in your food and drink, or do you want to pretend, and be fooled? :-)

I take the red pill, and need to know what's there :)

I was thinking about condensing a 10 liter bucket of drinking water down to almost nothing in a clean container to get something in my samples. Did anyone try that?

I've ingested my share of water from Saguaro and Canyon Lakes too in my water skiing days there. Yum! What critters lurk there?

A suggestion: If you don't see much, you might want to try centrifuge gently the water sample (a home-made centrifuge-- see, e.g., http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/ind ... ntrif.html although even one using a vial, string, and stick should work).
