Black posts on Wild stero stand

#1 Post by LittleFrog » Sun Dec 21, 2014 6:02 pm

In the Volume 3, Number 8, August 2013 of the MicrobeHunter in part 6 of the history of stereo microscopes the Wild microscope in Figure 101 has two black metal posts at the back of the stand. Can anyone tell me the purpose of those posts? In particular is there a specific accessory they are intended to accommodate?

Many thanks.

Just guessing: maybe these are able to hold so-called swan-neck lamps for illumination of the specimen from both sides. Swan-neck lamps have a lamp on the tip but can be bent into place, because the "neck" is flexible. But I am only guessing.
