Testing inclusion of pictures hosted on my website

#1 Post by mrsonchus » Tue Aug 09, 2016 7:12 pm

A test to see if pictures included in my website are able to be included in my posts here rather than take space on this forum's server...

Here's (hopefully) a link to one such picture, of a section through a (Marchantia) Liverwort's gemmae-cup..
Image

Hope it works....

Aha - I think it has worked - does anyone know if this method will allow me to exceed the 5-image limit for pictures hosted by this forum per post? It may be handy - also will the size be increased beyond the forum-hosted limits of 1000pix in either dimension and 500kB in size I wonder?

Promising. :)

hmmmm, here's a different type of link - from a static picture within a web-page light-box....
Image
Can anyone see it?
I can see it - this may be a very useful feature - interesting indeed...

Aha - thanks fellows, it seems to show promise then. I'll need to familiarize myself with the 'ins & outs' of the system as I'm totally new to the website-creation realm - yet another dark art that may be learned! :D :)

Thanks for the feedback friends. :D :)

Worked very nicely. I don't think there are any limitations on file size (Mb), dimensions (pixels), or number of images when posting only a link to an external host: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=39

Thanks gekko - the image-gallery option looks interesting also - I'll give it a try too. :)

Yes I can detect the gemmae its quite distinctive. I'll have a surf through my boxes to see if I have sections, I know I did a few last year.

Nice one!
Thank you
Best regards

Another test-image reference from a static image on website page gallery..

The first two are links to images as in 'thumbnail' (or at least reduced to fit in the page's gallery-table view.
Image
and
Image

and the next four are links to images as seen in the 'lightbox' that's invoked when the images are selected on my web-page gallery, these are however still within the size limits of this forum.....
Image
Image
Image

Now - this image is not only No.6, but of 2500pix width, so exceeds this forum's size-limit and the numer (5) of images per post for this forum's hosting facility...
A 2500pix wide number 6,
Image

Aha! Seems that the limits are no more! I can see all 6 images, complete with the big-un at No.6 - can you see them all?

So far it's looking good. It'll also save room on this forum's server! :D :)
