uploaded images gone after a few days

#1 Post by iconoclastica » Thu Jan 24, 2019 12:04 pm

I find myself frequently reading old discussions, both on this forum as on others. Much knowledge has been accumulated here, even though sometimes it's hard to find. I note though, that often illustrations have gone missing. I presume this is inevitable when the pictures are stored on other servers than the forum itself. So be it.

However, I tried to outsmart this in a recent discussion by storing mere illustrations externally where space is not yet limiting, but long-term storage is uncertain, and uploading the graphs essential for understanding the points made to the forum. This seemed to work well, only now, after about two days, the external images are still there, but the uploaded ones have gone...

What did I do wrong?

Hi Michael

I understand your reaction. I thought I might get an url like the [img]-tag defines one. In edit-mode, all I see is [attachment=0]stoma.jpg[attachment]. But when I returned, without saving, the image was there. Must be a caching issue then?

I use photoimage.org to store these photos. Recently they changed the suffix to photoimage.cc
My old posts that just show ‘image’ where the photo was had to be edited to change .org to .cc in order to work correctly.

Got most of mine fixed now, but it was a chore.
