One EOS-M issue is inability to power by USB, requiring a dummy battery power supply or frequent swapping/recharging.
this article indicates otherwise: https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index? ... =ART178443

Again, I do appreciate your feedback and help. I ended up going with the M50 mark ii

That article includes "2. Insert the DC coupler", which is what I called a dummy battery power supply.
It replaces the camera's regular LP-E12 rechargeable battery.

There are (non-Canon) LP-E12 dummy batteries with accept USB power,

Re-reading what you wrote, and my reply, I see they were one in the same. I miss-read what you stated. Apologies, and thank you for the link!

No problemo!
FWIW, I use this USB-C-powered dummy battery with an M6 II:

There may be a comparable dummy for your M50 II (which uses a different battery)
My dummy is powered by this:

.. which also provides recharging when away from AC power.
