Photography with the Olympus CX-41

#1 Post by Skywise » Tue May 23, 2023 3:27 am

I recently upgraded from an Olympus CX-31 to the CX-41 to get the trinocular head--also like the 5th objective option. What are the "parts" called that I need to do photography? I understand the U-SPT (Straight Photo tube) goes first, not sure what comes next.

CX41 should be uis, so you have two options for your trinocular head.

1. Direct projection
U-tv1x-2 plus u-tmad
T2 to your camera mount adaptor.
You can also use U-CMAD if your camera has a c-mount and smallish sensor.

2. Projection eyepieces
U-SPT with PE type projection eyepiece.
Options: PE2x (rare, $$$$), PE2.5x, PE3.3x, PE4x, PE5x.
On top: photomicro L (epxnesive)
Then: OM mount to your camera mount adaptor.
If you choose to remove the OM mount for an F-mount which makes adapting easier, you must flock the internals.

You can also use the relay lens type like u-tv0.63x and whatnot, but if you know those, you would not be asking. I recommend direct projection because projection eyepieces will exacerbate chromatic aberration.
