Canon Live View - storing to laptop?
Hi,
With Canon Live View, can you store images directly to the laptop or do these have to be saved to SD?
Cheers

Hello,
This is called "tethered shooting".
Here is a link explaining it for Canon cameras.

If you use the Canon software, then you can directly store the images directly on the computer. The software also allows you to take automatic interval pictures, which is not possible with the Camera alone (unless you use a special firmware loke MagicLantern).

Re: Canon Live View - storing to laptop?
Thanks Oliver.
I have just bought a EOS1000D body very cheaply as it says that the sD is protected all the time (with any card).
It might be possible to reset the little switch that reads the position of the card's slider but as it is intended just to go on my mic I don't care too much if I can use Live View!
Cheers

Don't dismiss Live View without giving it a try, Steve. Some of us would love to have it.

Live View automatically stores the images in the libraries folder under pictures.

Hi Jim and Eddie,
That's what I was hoping. For £45 it's a gamble but if it works as a tethered camera with Live View it's as cheap a microscope camera as I can get!
Cheers

SteveSteve:
I use a Canon 1000D on my microscopes.
The Canon EOS utilities Remote Shooting is perfect for saving your photos on the PC. You also have the option of storing on both the camera and PC at the same time.
If you did not get the CD with your camera, you can download the CD from Canon.
Go to any Canon site and go to the software and drivers section. Download the "EOS Digital Solution Disk Software 29.1A for Windows (For users who cannot us... "
You do not have to install the complete disk. Select custom installation and select the EOS Utilities.
You will be please at the ability to focus on screen at 30fps.
