Interesting comparison using Amscope cameras

#1 Post by Greg Howald » Tue Feb 23, 2021 3:35 am

I have several scopes and cameras. The Amscope t420 is an infinity trinocular that came with an Amscope W200 wireless camera and an FM 037 reduction lens.
The metallurgical trinocular came with an Amscope MU1403 usb camera and an FM 050 reduction lens.
The MU 1403 gives a mirror image as expected between scope and camera but the WF200 gives a straight through image. What you see in the scope you see on the screen. The FM 050 lens produces a much nicer image than the FM 037. So... I put the FM 050 with the WF200 camera and bingo...a great image.
Who knew?

Curious - and a couple questions, Greg.

1) Is "FM 037" a .37 reduction lens and "FM 050" a .50 reduction lens?? Otherwise similar in that they drop into a microscope tube and have a C-mount?

2) I vaguely recall the Amscope camera software had a setting to flip the picture. Not so?

You're right concerning what the numbers mean. I don't know about the settings yet. The program is too new to me.
