Light waves when taking videos
Hi! This is my first post here, nice to meet you!!
I've been recording some videos with my smartphone, and I've noticed how sometimes I get this light wave effect. How can I fix it?
Thank you!

.
It would depend on your setup, but it is a frequent problem with LED llumination and PWM power supplies.

Whatever the root cause [and 75RR mentions a likely suspect] the problem is often known as ‘strobing’ and it is evidence of a ‘beat frequency’ in the interaction of the lighting an the camera’s electronic shutter.

Right. The problem is the phone camera and is noticeable in most cell phones. Wave lines show up in still photos too and are especially noticeable when photographing an image that is cross polarized.

Re: Light waves when taking videos
I've seen how changing the light intensity makes this go away.
Thank you so much for your replies!

CLOSE THE APERTURE.OR DIAL DOWN THE LIGHT SO THE CAMERA SPEED SLOWS DOWN TO COMPENSATE

The best solution is to identify and eliminate all strobing/flickering light source, you can use the phone camera point to the light source and adjusting camera exposure to figure it out.
1. Maximize all LED lighting to eliminate strobing/flickering effect caused by PWM dimming
2. Turn off all florescence light, including room ceiling light if they are, as they are always strobing/flickering at high frequency.
3. Change the light source which is featured with low flickering
