Magnification of Microscope Camera

#1 Post by DinoBoy » Sat Jun 26, 2021 12:36 pm

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the magnification of microscope cameras. I am unsure on how to calculate the magnification. The microscope camera is “Hayear 16mp (Hy-2307) and the sensor size is 1/2.3 with a 0.5 reduction lense. The size of the image on my laptop is around 30cm long diagonally and the objective is 10x (as an example). How would I find out the magnification of my videos and images with my microscope camera? Is anyone able to give me a number?

Thank you and I hope to hear an answer soon.

Including the cropping factor of the camera sensor and the size of the screen and such leads to deceptive mag rating that aren't very comparable from one setup to another. This is why the field of view (size of the area you're imaging) is a much better and more universal metric.

How would I find this out and measure it? Sorry this is still new to me.

Have a look for “Stage Micrometer”

Really good ones are expensive … but there are plenty of modestly-priced ones that will be quite adequate.
