A SIMPLE ADAPTOR

OCCASIONALLY I HAVE WISHED FOR A SMALLER FIELD OF VIEW AND THEREFORE A LARGER APPEARING IMAGE FROM MY MICROSCOPE CAMERAS. I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION FOR THIS WHICH I AM WILLING TO SHARE.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN AT THIS FOR A WHILE, YOU PROBABLY HAVE A SET OF 5X HUYGENS EYEPIECES, AND IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND HAVE A C-MOUNT ADAPTOR BUT NO C-MOUNT CAMERA, BOTH OF THOSE ARE PROBABLY SITTING IN A BOX SOMEWHERE ALONG WITH OTHER SELDOME USED ITEMS.
IN FIGURE A I SHOW THE C-MOUNT ADAPTOR AND A 5X HUYGENS EYEPIECE.
IN FIGURE B I HAVE TAKEN THE EYEPIECE APART. I CAREFULLY STORED THE PARTS AND KEPT THE EYEPIECE TUBE OUT.
FIGURE C SHOWS THE THAT LARGE DIAMETER OF THE EYEPIECE TUBE EXACTLY FITS THE C-MOUNT ASDAPTOR.
IN FIGURE D I HAVE REMOVED THE CAMERA REDUCTION LENS AND MOUNTED THE BARE TUBE- C MOUNT ADAPTOR, AND AS SHOWN IN FIGURE E PLACED IT IN THE PHOTO TUBE.

RESULTING IMAGE IS VERY LARGE INDEED AND PHOTO QUALITY IS EXCELLENT, BUT THIS CONFIGURATION IS BY NO MEANS SIMUL-FOCAL EXCEPT IN MY OWN SITUATION. BY REMOVING THE PHOTO TUBE, PLACING A FEW LARGE O-RINGS ON THE 23MM CAMERA TUBE, I WAS ABLE TO HAVE SIMUL-FOCAL IMAGING WITH AN AMSCOPE T450C INFINITY MICROSCOPE. TESTING WITH MY OTHER MICROSCOPES INDICATES THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH A FINITE SCOPE.
