Smartphone Adapter for Trinocular Camera Port

#1 Post by SonoranDesertRat » Thu Oct 07, 2021 1:12 am

This is probably a really silly question but after seeing how decent smartphone videos/photos can turn out when using a microscope eyepiece adapter I am wondering if anyone knows if there are adapters for using your smartphone via the camera port on a trinocular scope.

The adapters I've found online so far seem to be intended to mount to an eye piece only. I'm not sure if that's inherently compatible with the trinocular camera port or if I'd need some additional parts to make it work.

Appreciate any advice you can share, thanks!

You can generally mount an eyepiece in a trinocular port - and your smartphone and adapter clamped to that. An affordable and good solution for all but the most demanding photo needs.

When put into the Photo tube the image in the additional eyepiece should be parfocal with the image in the bino. You can simply check this by using one of your eyepieces from the bino tube.

Interesting. Would you need an adapter? Also, I suppose you would have the same cropping issues as using cell phone with the eyepiece?
