Connect a Sony A6400 to a Olympus CH2 with afocal?

#1 Post by Artey » Sun Mar 13, 2022 4:04 pm

Hello,

atm i'm researching how to connect a Sony a6400 to my microscope. I don't have a Trinocular, and so I need to use the Eyepiece tube.

My Idea was to get a some adapter (step up / down) for my eyepiece. (Leitz 10x/18l with red dot glasses)

The adapter would go straight to a 35mm manual lens (since a 40mm emount pancake lens don't exist). Would this work or are the other solution, that are better, that don't cost a fortune like the LMScopeAdapter (around 1100€ ~ 1200$).

Thanks for all the help :)

I got some good advice on this topic from MicroBob here:

I have connected my a6000 to binocular zeiss, not afocal but with a projective eyepiece and a telescope T2 adapter.

Your CH2 objectives function best with a MATCHING Olympus CHK eyepiece (or NFK projection eyepiece (the abbreviation correction in objective and eyepiece “work together” to give a you a proper color and abbreviation corrected image.

I did use a Leitz 10*18 mounted as projective on a Nikon 4500 camera in the past with my Olympus BH: OK results though, you do not require the expensive “red dot” Leitz version (the red dot matches the original Leitz objectives).

One of the reasons the Leitz eyepiece is often mentioned: after removing the rubber eyecup there is a screw thread exactly fitting the front filter thread of the lens on the Nikon 4500: no adapter required. From memory the Leitz thread size is 28mm no idea about the pitch though.
