Hello !
I want to fix two cameras on the eyepiece tubes of my microscope.
To do so I need an adapter and I need to make one (I can't buy one).
I made some research and I think that I need a magnification of 0.5x due to the sensor format of my cameras (1/1.7").
moreover the cameras have a C mount so the flange focal distance is 17,256mm.
So I think that in the adapter I need a lens with a focal length of 17,256mm and this lens has to be at 17,256mm from the camera sensor.
Could you correct me if I am wrong. And could you tell me how do I get the 0.5x magnification ?
the cameras : acA4024-29um Basler ace
The microscope : Zeiss Stemi 508
Thank you !

Re: Microscope Camera Adapter
Why do you need to make it? These adapters are very affordable.

Because I want to understand how it works. And that's a challenge for me.Scarodactyl wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 11:21 pmWhy do you need to make it? These adapters are very affordable.
Re: Microscope Camera Adapter
I think you need something like this. The intermediate image you need access to is typically about 10 mm below the top of the eyepiece tube, and these adapters pick up that image, similarly to how a viewing eyepiece picks up the image. A viewing eyepiece produces a virtual image when combined with the human eye, while the projecting eyepiece will create a resized real image at the correct distance to focus on your c-mount camera's sensor. The adapter IS the lens which gives the correct flange focal distance. I know nothing of the specifics of the Zeiss Stemi 508 and make no claims that the linked adapter will work, but you need something similar.
