14.2MP DSLR imager
14.2MP DSLR imager
Don't these 2 items make a microscope imager? (microphoto is it? lol)
Capable of running high speed video as well as stills direct to the computer hard drive from an Amscope microscope?

Re: 14.2MP DSLR imager
Not sure what the Nikon D3100 is like, but there are quite a lot of microscopists that swear by canon.

Re: 14.2MP DSLR imager
Charlie, Canon offers remote shooting capability which is a big help in focusing and composing.
I don't think Nikon has that ability.

Thanks for the replies 75RR & JimT.
I missed the fact that the camera linked was used/who knows what.
I looked into cost of a new camera including Canon and can see that I won't be pursuing imaging for awhile!

Re: 14.2MP DSLR imager
There are good second hand cameras on the market, I bought mine at www.keh.com (who I am happy to recommend) and no it is not a Canon and yes it vibrates. Still like it though.I looked into cost of a new camera including Canon and can see that I won't be pursuing imaging for awhile!

Re: 14.2MP DSLR imager
The adapter can be had on E-bay for less. You can also purchase used Canon EOS cameras on e-bay for pennies on the dollar. Especially given you do not need a typical camare alens since it will be mounted on your microscope. I purchased a very nice EOS 20 not to long ago for less than a $100. Of course it will not do "live View" so it wasn't exactly what I wanted but the build and quality is impressive. Especially given the cost. I typically use a Canon T3I on my scopes and they can also be found used rather cheap these days.
Nearly everything Amscope has for sale is offered on E-bay for less than can be found on their site.

Re: 14.2MP DSLR imager
Like the rest of my microscope acquisition project, the imaging part is way over budget! Live view does seem desirable and it seems a selection of Canon bodies with it can be had in the $150 range. I know less about cameras than microscopes. lol Do all the ones with live view offer remote shutter control? Do megapixels over 10mp matter? Any other considerations?einman wrote: I purchased a very nice EOS 20 not to long ago for less than a $100.
