making stereo pix?
making stereo pix?
Is it possible to take images (stills or from video) from each of the eyepieces from a stereo scope and combine them into a clear 3-D image? Another thing: Why don't they put two cameras together with one output so you can take a 3-D image or video from the start?

Re: making stereo pix?
If you are referring to stereo pairs for cross-eyed viewing like these http://krebsmicro.com/3Dstacks/index.html you could always just try it. That's what I did, with mixed results: some pairs worked delightfully well while others just plain flopped.
Recently I saw some very cool stereo pairs made by Rik Littlefield, site administrator over at another forum, and complemented them. His response: "Ah, now there's a fun technique! These days all my macro/micro stereo pairs are shot as a single stack, then processed into left/right views using the "synthetic stereo" capability of Zerene Stacker. That's a wonderful thing because now I get stereo almost for free, where back when I had to shoot physical left/right viewpoints, stereo was at least twice the trouble and often worse than that because of difficulty in matching backgrounds and finding the optimum separation."
