Stentor ???

#1 Post by D0c » Wed Mar 31, 2021 6:03 pm

But which one?

I think the algae is food and not zoochlorellae. I can't decide what form the macronucleus is. Apart from the algae it seems to be colourless.

I'm hoping for Stentor muelleri :D

Amazing videos! I've seen these little guys before, but I was unable to identify them :( Internet pics don't help a lot either, but my guess would be S. roeselii. Take this with a pinch of salt, as I couldn't see the boys' macronucleus and I'm a little rusty at this <:)

Hope this helps,

I have just found some S.roeselii within loricas and they look similar but do not have the algae that these do, and the worm like macronucleaus is clearly visible where in this video it is not.

Thanks Tenshi for your input.
