Captured this wonderful ciliate in my sample yesterday. It looks like a Trichodina pediculus. While identifying this little critter I noticed it normally attaches itself to fish and hydras. It was from a lake at RSPB Langford Lowfields I have never seen fish there but the lakes are pretty big and attracts lots of herons and egrets so I bet there is fish in the lakes.

Nice. Definitely Trichodina! There are many species, and you can't really ID below genus without knowing the host, and counting denticles and examining other minute features.
