I decided to have a squiz inside. There are 4 screws which hold the metal base plate in place but I couldn't unscrew them! Needs some extra elbow grease.. However, the plastic back plate came undone easily
The power supply is in two parts - seems rather complicated for just a 6V bulb! Anyway, there's a switching module which has a 110-220V slide selector. So it looks like if I just change the position of it, it should be ok:

I might check with Amscope first else I'll just try it!
Alternatively I could bypass the internal PSU and just power the current 6v/20W bulb from a mains 3V-24V variable PSU that I have. That would then let me use 6V or 12V, 20W or 30W bulbs, or even LED illumination
