Polarization objective on brightfield
Polarization objective on brightfield
I was finding an upgrade for my microscope and came across a Leica polarization objective (Leica 556015 PL Fluotar objective 20x/0.45), it came at a very reasonable price. However the problem is that my microscope is a Motic Panthera brightfield microscope, I can find an adapter for M25 to RMS thread but I am worried that there is a reduction in quality. Is there anything that I should consider before buying the objective? Anything reply helps thanks.

The corrections won't match and you'll lose parfocality with the adapter. The Panthera follows the popular Olympus standard, so newer Olympus infinity objectives (ie any aside from metallurgical ones made for the BH2) will work, as will many other Chinese and Indian objectives which are often made to the same specs.

Thanks for the reply! I didn't go for the Olympus objectives because their price are relatively high even for the second hand ones, and there is almost no fluor Motic objectives in the second hand market as far as I know. There was a forum post (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15544&p=122646&hili ... fl#p122644) about the Chinese cloned Olympus objective(https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184823025583 ... SwWQBgimxh) but the reply was that the quality is still quite far back from the Big 4's. Perhaps I should spend the money on the different techniques.

Olympus objectives come up fairly frequently and are also in high demand so you need to watch eBay closely and often to find the deals. They do usually eventually appear though.
