invalid file format fix?
Hi All
Iam getting an invalid file format error (.MP4)
when trying to upload a short video clip. Is anyone experiencing similar problems?..

Re: invalid file format fix?
I don't think you can upload anything but small images here, upload on YT or other external service...

YouTube - upload video to there and insert a link in a post on here. Similarly, you can also upload larger stills to your hosting site of choice and insert a link on here.

I upload a lot on You Tube. It sometimes takes 3 or 4 hours to upload a full video.

You must have a slow internet connection, Don!DonSchaeffer wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 3:30 pmI upload a lot on You Tube. It sometimes takes 3 or 4 hours to upload a full video.
What upload speed do you have? Mine is 10Mbs but it doesn't take too long (minutes rather than hours) to upload a typical video, and I'm in the UK. It's best to keep the video dimensions down to, say, fullHD. I can imagine it could take quite a while to upload a 4K video.

My reply was aimed at Don as it was he who complained about the time it took!MickyFynn wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 4:03 pmLouiseScot wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 3:58 pmYou must have a slow internet connection, Don!DonSchaeffer wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 3:30 pmI upload a lot on You Tube. Re: invalid file format fix?
I wasn't complaining. It just takes an hour or two. I can do other things while it uploads. My speed may be a little slow but I'm uploading 2 or 3 gigabytes each time.

Hmm... It's up to you what sizes and dimensions of videos you choose to upload. I recently uploaded a non-microscopy video which was 8 1/2 minutes long and FullHD (1080p) - it was a manageable 281Mb. I don't think I'm likely to ever upload anything much bigger for microscopy. Your mileage obviously varies!

Re: invalid file format fix?
How did you do that? What software did you use?
Re: invalid file format fix?
Hi Don
are you referring to the Rotifer?..If so I used swiftview which came with the camera as a package with the Swift 380B Microscope I bought. The blue "stain" effect was acetate overhead projector film with some of my wife's blue nail varnish painted on it to make a filter.

Re: invalid file format fix?
I edit videos using Openshot which isn't perfect but is free and ok for most things. I had a look at some of the videos you uploaded recently and they were quite small in terms of download size. I use another free app called '4k Video Downloader' which lets me download videos from YouTube and also to check the download size, if I need to know
