Pollen. There's lots of it about.

Another Update on the Foxglove. It is now 206 cm and still growing.

Ahhh, one of my personal favourites, the 'fox and cubs' as many call it in the U.K. Often when we're out & about in the jalopy and I spot an interesting-looking wildflower (living in the Lake District iut in the leafy-lanes) my Wife will leap out and grab a sample for me!
On one such occasional a few years back now, she took a little tumble and gashed-open her knee (blood all down her leg - she was wearing Summer shorts)! A few swabs and a good rinse with DIW soon sorted that, together with an antiseptic spray and butterfly-stitches!
Anyway, she spotted your images as I was perusing this post just now and recounted the hideous incident for me in detail, together with an albeit mild, withering look.... She loves your image, as do I - particularly your simple and attractive layouts - really enjoyable to see.
Keep up the good work, always great to see your lovely images and information.

Very nice display !
Re: Pollen. There's lots of it about.
As an allergy sufferer this is thread is making me sneeze! Here is a SEM image I took of purple hibiscus pollen from the backyard. Not sure if the surface is flaky like that or if its the gold layer added (approx 153 angstrom thick) necessary to image in sem.
Re: Pollen. There's lots of it about.
Must be nice to have access to a scanning electron microscope. You don't say if the SEM is at work or in your back room. Very nice image, I think the flakes are probably pollen kit (maybe coated in gold).

My father used to tell this story:-
To earn money when he was young (14) he used to collect blackberries and sell them to the old folks in the village. One day there was a film at the cinema he wanted to see (Dracula or Frankenstein, I forget which).
He had collected a full bowl that he was sure would earn him enough to see the film.
Wanting to impress to make sure of the money he saw some really large and juicy berries to put on the top of the bowl. Pushing into the brambles to get them, he frightened a pheasant into flight (which he hadn't of course seen) by almost stepping on it. He got such a fright that he dropped the bowl of juicy blackberries loosing most of them.
It took him another hour to refill the bowl and he almost missed the start of the film and as he told the story, the film wasn't half as frightening as the scare he got from the pheasant.

An update on the sweetcorn anther husk. It has been sitting in my slide collection since the last post and today I decided to try out my dark field masks again.
Soooo:-
A new image stack of that old sweet corn anther husk.
