Protists from very small to medium-sized are beginning to mass in the mudpuddle. The culture seems to be dominated by a small number of species though. It really doesn't matter much where I look in the sample. You may notice that most of the organisms, especially the larger ones, are moving very little. Sometimes you can discern motion within the cell body itself. I think this is typical of life not wanting to waste stored energy.
