Boogie, thank you– you too are too kind, but I think the person who deserves a tribute is Oliver Kim who quietly does all the work of keeping the forum going (as well as maintaining the website and producing the excellent magazine) in addition to his day job.

Hi QCC the Micro images you take of "rocks" do you use reflected light on polished surfaces? and do you prep the surfaces your self?

I am not a real microscopist. To me microscopes are a set of inter-changeable lens for a camera.
With a few exceptions, my specimens are all commercially produced. I have 48 thin section mineral slides and 25 biological slides. I have tried my hand at making crystal slides with limited success.

 

I use three microscopes, all with polarizing capabilities. On occasion I will add a top LED light for effect.

 

Basically, I am an amateur  photographer.
